Brunel House, St Georges Road

Brunel House has permission for a

change of use from office to student

accommodation, comprising 233

student bed spaces.

The building has a Grade II listed façade

and remains of a Grade II listed Horse

Bazaar to the side/rear. The project will

be delivered by Unite Student Living.

Wapping Wharf

The first phase of the Wapping Wharf

development by Umberslade is

complete, including 194 apartments

and a range of independent traders

taking up space along Gaol Ferry Steps

and within CARGO, a retail yard made

of converted shipping containers.

Gaol Ferry Steps, a new pedestrian

route through the development

connecting south Bristol to the city

centre is open, linking Gaol Ferry

Bridge to Museum Square, a new-

landscaped public square on the

waterfront by M Shed.

Over 320 new homes will be

delivered as part of phase two of the

development.

Brandon Yard

Brandon Yard on the Harbourside

contains the remains of two Grade-II

listed buildings - West Purifier House

and Engine House, together with its

iconic chimney. Both of the buildings

will be restored and along with a new

structure, will provide 58 new homes.

The project will be delivered by Square

Bay and Acorn Property Group (Bristol).

Waterfront Place

One of the last waterfront development

opportunities in the city centre,

Waterfront Place will deliver a vibrant

mixed-use development that

complements the local area both in

terms of architecture and proposed uses.

Bristol City Council is currently

producing a planning brief for the

site with a view to marketing the

opportunity in 2018.

13-21 Baldwin Street

This Baldwin Street development will

include the retention and adaptation

of the façade and a six storey

redevelopment to provide student

accommodation, consisting of 92

studio apartments and retail space.

McLaren Property are overseeing this

project. The property was formerly in

use as nightclub (historically known as

the People's Palace Theatre), but has

been vacant for a number of years.

The Guildhall

The historic Guildhall and former

County Court building in the heart

of Bristol is to be transformed into a

luxury hotel following planning consent

in November 2016. The Trevor Osborne

Property Group plans to convert the

19th century building into a luxury

hotel with 100 bedrooms, conference

facilities, a spa complex and rooftop

terrace and are currently in discussion

with potential operators.

The development site comprises of

the Grade II* Guildhall, Grade I former

branch of the Bank of England and

parts of Albion Chambers in the heart

of the Old City, which is a major tourist

destination. The buildings are viewed

as historically important because of

their collection of impressive facades.

Programme

Mixing innovation, business and media,

Programme establishes a new facility

for culture and commerce in the heart

of Bristol within a stone’s throw of

St Nicholas Market. A full rejuvenation

of this iconic modernist building will

create 110,000 sq ft of open-plan

creative office space with integrated

cycle hub, coffee shop and extensive

external landscaping to reflect the

needs of the modern work environment.

Phase 1 of the refurbishment opened in

October with Phase 2 coming on line

later in 2018.

The project is being delivered by

Resolution Property who have extensive

experience in large scale repositioning

projects across Europe.

Former CID building, Bridewell Street

YMCA Bristol has purchased the old

Police Headquarters with plans to restore

and refurbish it to create short term

accommodation.

This Grade II listed building still has many

original features remaining untouched,

but it has been largely empty and unused

since the mid-1980s. The development

will create approximately 90 beds of

accommodation for visitors to the city

and a number of beds for young people.

The refurbishment will retain the original

character and feel of the building, making

the most of the marble floors, stone

staircase and caged lift (complete with

hardwood lift car) creating a unique offer

for visitors to the city.

The project budget is in the region of

£2.5m, building work was completed in

December 2017.

Dove Lane

Dove Lane St Paul’s is a multi–million

pound regeneration project to transform

a derelict brownfield site close to Portland

Square. The scheme will provide a broad

mix of new homes, office space, shops

and bring new employment opportunities

to the area. Alongside the new facilities

the area will also see a transformation

in the public realm which will include

a dedicated cycle route linking through

to Cabot Circus and beyond.

The project will be delivered by Places

for People, a management, regeneration

and development company with extensive

experience in delivering complex inner

city schemes.

Dean Street/Wilder Street

This derelict site on the corner of Dean

Street and Wilder Street, just off Portland

Square, has planning permission for a

development of 246 student bedrooms,

retail and office space.

The development is being led by Atlas

Hive, a joint venture between Atlas

Developments and Studio Hive.

The development will join other major

residential developments, which have

recently taken place in nearby Portland

Square and Brunswick Square areas.

The latter has also seen the completion

of One Brunswick Square, a major

creative office refurbishment.
